Christmas Merch and Printables

Thanksgiving is tomorrow! Can you believe it? I can’t! It seems like everyone is getting their fat pants out and getting ready to settle into the oncoming Christmas spirit! I just wanted to give a quick update on my little workshop.

I will have a new set of Christmas cards up on Etsy and Society6 for Black Friday! In addition to that I will have revamped versions of last year’s Christmas Mustache card set, and also prints of many of the Illustrations that I’ve created throughout this year! Keep your eyes out!

Desire

Desire

I just finished my submission for the Book of Mormon Zine! I entitled this piece, ‘Desire’ based on verses in Alma 32.

Good timber does not grow with ease:
The stronger wind, the stronger trees;
The further sky, the greater length;
The more the storm, the more the strength.
By sun and cold, by rain and snow,
In trees and men good timbers grow.

Contemporary Art: Nathan Hardyman

Nate the man Hardyman is one of my favorite artists and also one of my favorite friends. It’s so funny to me how Nate works. He’s a laid back led head who goes with the flow and loves to rock out on his electric guitar (in his award winning band Pando by the way), but when it comes to his illustrations, his work is so detailed and in a lot of ways, he’s really precise.

Nate Hardyman Student Review

He just launched his tumblr and I’m so excited to see more posts in the very near future!

Contemporary Art Monday: Tiana Birrell

This week I wanted to write about my good friend Tiana (I like to call her T mama). She is an artistic soul and takes her nature and art moments very seriously!

It’s been really cool to watch her style change and shift from technical figures to these patterns and forms. She works a lot with using different layers and masks certain shapes while leaving others to create these beautiful designs.

T recently finished curating the ‘Mapping the Whole’ show that we looked at in the HFAC a few weeks ago. She is driven by color shapes, life, humanity and peoples and cultures. She minored in Anthropology and is now looking into art curation programs at different Grad Schools.

I love how she has been creating a lot of new genre art. She has been involved in so many shows over the past few years! One of my favorites was a dream journal project that she did. Every morning she would wake up and record her dreams on a camera.

She also did performance art as a human nomad. I think I like this the most:

Design Dazzle

Design Dazzle

Well I’m really excited about some of the projects I have been able to work on recently! I’ve been hired on as an illustrator/graphic designer for DesignDazzle.com. One of the first projects that I have been able to work on is this Santa Sack, which is a really cool idea by the way. I did some hand lettering and cool little sketches that I had fun with!

I’ll keep you updated on other cool projects as well!

Thankful

Thankful

It’s getting close to that time of cornucopias and holiday festivities. Before the slew of jingle bells and snowflakes hit us, although the snowflakes are already coming here in Utah, I wanted to give Thanksgiving its deserved recognition!

Grateful

I designed these gratitude journals last year as I was thinking about the holiday and the what it means to really be grateful. Great thoughts can stem from that kind of thinking! These gratitude journals will be available online in my Etsy shop, as well as at the Beehive Bazaar this December!

Jillian Tamaki Notes

Having Jillian Tamaki come and guest lecture was one of the best experiences of my BYU illustration career. I was inspired and really excited and I have since been trying to incorporating some of her awesomeness into my own pieces. Boy, have I got a ways to go! I thought I would share some of the insight that I gained from her visit!
